Good
handmade wool rugs are not only
beautiful, but also so durable that they last
for generations, hold their value or even
appreciate over time, age beautifully and look
prettier with age than when they were new. They
are also easy to maintain and clean. |

These qualities make handmade rugs a greater
value than any other home furnishing in the
amount of beauty they add to any home or
office, and the value and incredibly long
service they give to their owners.

Kilims have become increasingly
collectible in themselves over recent years,
with quality pieces now commanding high
prices.
We produce different qualities of kilims
that
would match any budget, in the meanwhile
offering a really beautiful handmade

There are many grades of wool. Generally
wool from Newzealand sheep that are from
higher altitude areas is finer, the neck and
belly area also have finer wool. The wool
from young healthy animals is better. Live
wool, the only kind we want, is sheared from
a live animal, while dead wool is chemically
removed from dead animal. The dead wool has
no oils and is rough to the touch.
For our production, we only consider high
grades of live wool.

If a rug is listed simply as "hand made",
make sure you know more about how it was
made because hand tufted, or hand hooked
rugs are called hand made, but they
are not as finely made and durable as the
hand knotted or hand woven rugs. So just the
"hand made" label is not enough to make your
decision.

A fine handmade rug will age beautifully
and usually appreciate in value over a long
period of time. Machine made rugs do not enjoy
such longevity or appreciation.
On the left is a beautiful Shiraz. Note
that a machine made carpet can never achieve
that amount of beauty. |
